Helsinki will host the Eurelectric Power Summit 2026, the most important annual event of the European electricity industry, on 3–4 June 2026. Under the theme “Bringing Power to Life”, the summit will bring together political leaders, energy-sector executives, experts, and academics to discuss Europe’s energy future in a context shaped by geopolitical, economic, and climate-related challenges.
This year, InvesTenergy once again serves as a traditional media partner of the event organized by Eurelectric, the association representing the interests of the European electricity industry and its more than 3,500 member companies.

Electrification, Security, and Competitiveness – Europe’s New Energy Trilemma
This year’s edition will address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: balancing electrification, energy security, and economic competitiveness.
Amid geopolitical tensions, trade conflicts, and extreme weather events, Europe’s energy sector is under increasing pressure to meet its decarbonization objectives while maintaining affordability and resilience across energy systems.
Under the concept “Bringing Power to Life,” participants will examine how electrification can strengthen Europe’s energy security and industrial competitiveness while integrating growing volumes of variable renewable energy and meeting rising electricity demand from transport, industry, and data centers.
“Reliable and affordable electricity is literally becoming a matter of life and death for the European continent as we navigate a much more complex landscape shaped by security concerns, technological disruption, and global competition,” said Kristian Ruby, Secretary General of Eurelectric.
European Leaders and High-Profile Speakers Take the Stage
“The list of key decision-makers attending this year highlights the fact that electricity has reached the top of the political agenda in capitals across Europe,” said Kristian Ruby.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Alexander Stubb, President of Finland;
- Teresa Ribera, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission;
- Sari Multala, Finland’s Minister of Climate and the Environment;
- Members of the European Parliament Radan Kanev and Ville Niinistö.
One of the summit’s special highlights will be a dialogue between Alastair Campbell, former Director of Communications for UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Rory Stewart, Professor of Grand Strategy at Yale University. Their discussion will focus on issues at the intersection of geopolitics, communications, and leadership.
Representing industry and academia will be Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Jan Rosenow, and leading executives from major energy companies, including Markus Rauramo, Catherine MacGregor, and Georgios Stassis.

Launch of Two Landmark Reports
During the summit, two major reports on Europe’s energy and industrial transformation will be officially launched.
Power Couples – Enhancing Industrial Competitiveness through Electrification
The result of a series of high-level roundtables involving European policymakers and industrial leaders, this report proposes concrete solutions for electrifying energy-intensive sectors that remain heavily dependent on fossil fuels.
The document highlights how electrification can reduce Europe’s dependence on volatile energy imports, strengthen economic resilience, and support the recovery of industrial competitiveness. It also outlines the policies and investments required to achieve these objectives by 2030.
Twin Transition Commitments
The second report examines the impact of the rapid development of artificial intelligence on energy demand and explores how the electricity sector can respond to this challenge.
The study looks at the need to expand clean and reliable power supply for data centers, while also highlighting the opportunities AI offers for optimizing power grids, improving forecasting capabilities, and enhancing operations and maintenance activities.
Romania’s Participation
Romania is represented within Eurelectric by the Romanian Energy Center (CRE), an organization formed following its merger with the Romanian National Institute for the Study of Energy Resource Development and Utilization (IRE). Corneliu Bodea, President of CRE, is among the speakers at the 2026 Eurelectric Power Summit, contributing to discussions on the future of Europe’s energy system.
The Romanian energy sector will also be represented in Helsinki by leaders from major companies, including PPC Romania, E.ON Romania, Electrica and Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania (DEER), who will participate in debates on Europe’s energy future.
On the first day of the event, Markus Rauramo, President of Eurelectric and CEO of Fortum, together with Kristian Ruby, Secretary General of Eurelectric, will hold a press conference presenting the key conclusions and strategic directions emerging from the summit discussions.
